MOBIUS
ONE

What if, instead of occupying the ground, we lifted the city itself?
In MOBIUS ONE, the city is elevated into the air, allowing human habitation to move above while the ground plane is reclaimed as a resource-rich landscape. This freed ground can then be used for essential systems such as groundwater recharging, water management, farming, renewable energy generation, and ecological regeneration. The ground is no longer treated as real estate, but as a life-support system for the city above.

The choice of the Mobius strip is intentional. The Mobius form represents infinity and continuity—when you begin at one point, you eventually return to the same point, much like the circular logic of the Earth itself. Unlike a simple loop, the Mobius has two interconnected surfaces, allowing occupation on both the top and the underside. This opens up the possibility of double the usable urban surface within the same footprint, challenging conventional ideas of up and down, ground and sky.

While this may seem hyper-realistic today.

Many technologies once considered impossible such as the manipulation of light, sound, and data are now part of everyday life.

MOBIUS ONE speculates that future technologies may allow controlled manipulation of gravity or structural forces, potentially through magnetic or advanced material systems. The thick Mobius layer in the illustrations represents this technological zone, housing systems that could support orientation, stability, and future gravity-control mechanisms.

Mobility in this future city shifts from horizontal congestion to vertical and aerial movement. Flying vehicles and autonomous aerial transport become primary modes of travel, supported by emerging real-world precedents such as flying taxis already being tested globally. Artificial intelligence and advanced systems further enable efficient city management, energy use, and resource distribution.

Ultimately, MOBIUS ONE is not presented as a fixed solution, but as a speculative framework—one way of visualizing how future cities might evolve if technology, architecture, and urbanism work together. It proposes a future where resources are preserved, land is respected, and living becomes a new spatial experience. Through this concept, we aim to start a conversation about where future cities could lie, and how innovation can help us create more sustainable, efficient, and meaningful ways of living.
